Phillips eyes new Palace deal
Kevin Phillips hopes he can agree a new deal with Crystal Palace to return to the Premier League next season.
The veteran striker, who turns 40 in July, scored the penalty which beat Watford in the Championship play-off final at Wembley to send the Eagles back into the top flight. Phillips is a free agent after spending the end of last season on loan at Selhurst Park from Blackpool.
“We are in conversations with them. The chairman and the manager have been away on holiday and it is only really in the last few days that we have made contact, but I spoke to the gaffer a couple of days after the play-off final and he made it clear that he wanted me to stay,” Phillips told Sky Sports News.
“Hopefully we can get it sorted in the next week so that I can report back with the rest of the lads. It is an exciting season ahead and to be a part of that would be fantastic.”
Palace have been linked with former West Brom winger Jerome Thomas, who is also a free agent, as well as Sunderland’s Wales midfielder David Vaughan, goalkeeper Scott Carson and Bristol City winger Albert Adomah.
Gabbidon signs new Palace deal
Danny Gabbidon is the latest Crystal Palace player to commit his future to the club.
The experienced defender, who arrived at Selhurst Park on a free transfer in September 2012, has penned a new one-year deal.
Gabbidon told the Eagles’ official website: "I’m delighted to carry on playing for Palace for another season.
"I’ve really enjoyed my time so far as there’s a great group of lads here and I can’t wait to have another crack at Premier League football playing alongside them.
“The club has amazing supporters and they’ve been great to me since I joined, and I can’t wait to play against the top teams in the country at Selhurst next season.”

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed he’d like to “buy an English club” and the favourite is Crystal Palace.
The club were promoted into the Premier League last week after beating Watford – owned by Udinese patrons the Pozzo family – in the play-offs.
According to the latest rumours emerging in Italy, Palace are top of De Laurentiis’s wish-list.
The Hollywood mogul announced on Radio Marte that he intends to “expand my football empire.
“I want to buy three clubs, including one in England, so I asked Edy Reja if he would be willing to be the coach and he said he’s available.”
Crystal Palace was founded in September 1905 and their current co-chairmen are Jeremy Hosking, Martin Long, Steve Parish and Stephen Browett.
The club was in administration twice since 2000 and in January 2010 owed approximately £30 million
Another Italian President, Cagliari owner Massimo Cellino, had been in talks for a take-over of Crystal Palace in 2010.

Dobbie makes permanent Palace move
Crystal Palace have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Stephen Dobbie from Brighton for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old only moved to Brighton in January but spent the last four months of the season on loan at Selhurst Park and has now made the switch after penning a two-year deal with the Barclays Premier League newcomers.
Dobbie has experience of playing in the Premier League with Swansea and worked under current Palace boss Ian Holloway during two loan spells at Blackpool.
Dobbie becomes Holloway’s first signing of the summer and the former Hibs and St Johnstone midfielder, who started his career as a youngster at Rangers, is relishing another opportunity at top-flight football. “I enjoyed my football last season here and I like to think I had a part in helping the team getting promoted,” he told Palace Player. "But it’s a new season now, that’s in the past. We’ve just got to get ready in pre-season and get ready for that first game.
"It is every player’s dream, especially in the Championship - they want to be playing in the Premier League. You go away and have a nice holiday, but still in the back of your mind, you’ve only got four weeks off, so maybe in a week and a half, you’re going to know who you’re playing in that first game. “Then you start to look through all the other fixtures. I think we’ve got Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea all away in our first games against them, so the second part of the season will be exciting, especially for the fans.”
Having played under Holloway in the past, Dobbie is also looking forward to continuing their strong working relationship. “Obviously I’ve worked with the gaffer a number of times and there was no problem with that,” he said. "A lot of people don’t see the side to the gaffer that we do - on the pitch, on the training field, on the bus and in the changing room.
“We know what he’s like and we know how good he is tactically. You just have to look at the play-off semi-finals and the final, how the boys played the way he wanted and we got the right result. I’m sure he’ll be buzzing and raring to go.”

Palace sign Gayle from Peterborough
Peterborough striker Dwight Gayle has signed for promoted Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old, who netted 20 times last season with Dagenham and then Darren Ferguson’s Posh, has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League side.
Gayle’s top flight move caps a memorable year for the forward who only turned professional with Dagenham 12 months ago after scoring 29 goals during a loan spell at Conference North outfit Bishop’s Stortford.
“I’m ecstatic really, I just want to get pre-season started now,” he told Palace’s official website.
"The chance came and I had to grab it because I might not get another chance. To be playing in the Premier League from where I’ve come from is a big achievement really.
“I’m just really looking forward to it and hopefully I can take the opportunity with both hands and do well.”
Gayle was playing in the Essex Senior League with Stansted until 2011.
Gayle is a gamble as he has only been a pro football player for a year, so has still yet to prove that he can consistently perform at a high level. Some paper reports say that we have paid over £8 million for him but that is pure speculation. In reality I expect it to be nearer the £3 million mark with add ons if he is a success at this level. It’s still a club record paid for a player though.
We were due to play Inter Milan in a pre season friendly until they were offered a game against Real Madrid in the US on the same date. Looks like we are now playing Lazio on August10 but still needs to be confirmed. A fair few of us were asking for a game against Panionios but these are being over looked by the club. One day it will happen but not this season I’m afraid.

Have a really good friend who went to uni in Stoke. I also had a girlfriend who lived on the same street from the old Victoria ground. Have never been to Britannia stadium though, unfortunately can’t make this time round either as I’m getting married on the day of the game. Rookie mistake. :rolleyes:

When was that? I was from 1997-2000. I was living at campus, then regent road, then parkway and then spencer road, all around campus and Hanley park. It was great!

As for moving to Stoke yes it was a culture shock initially. Bear in mind I was 20. But after a couple of months I knew I was in the right country, at the right town! Yes it was exactly like the images I pictured from the songs I was listening to! Joy division and smiths were exactly what made me endure under such different circumstances and finally love the city (both Stoke and Manchester where I moved afterwards), the area (midlands and northwest) and of course the country itself. And the capital, where I’ve been more than 20 times!
